This is another fun topic this week. When the hubby asked what it was and I told him, he looked quizzically at me and asked, "Do you read any sites that aren't about books?" "Uh, yeah," I replied, "remember the girl that farted at the gym?" In which I was referring to a post that Dooce did quite a while ago that read to him on a road trip. Ahhhh, good times.
So with my morning coffee I read:
1. Dooce - Mommyblogger extraordinaire, Heather Armstrong writes Dooce and it's pretty funny, albeit sometimes raunchy. If you're offended by farts, poop, or boobs, you won't like her. She's just released her third book, Dear Daughter: The Best of the Dear Leta Letters
.
2. The Pioneer Woman - I love reading Ree Drummond. Self-proclaimed accidental country girl. She writes about her life on the ranch with her cowboy husband, whom she calls Marlboro Man and their four kids. She has some awesome giveaways, too. I've never won, but maybe someday.
Speaking of giveaways, brings me to another of my favorites:
3. Pacing the Panic Room - Ryan and Cole Marshall seem like the most awesome people in the world. They have two children, LB (Littlest Buddy) who has SMS, and Tessa, the most adorable little girl. Oh, I could go on and on about this site, just go check it out. His tumblr, All the Love in the Universe, is pretty great too.
Ryan is a photographer and did the book trailer for the book Instant Love: How to Make Magic and Memories with Polaroids. He's hosting a FANTASTIC giveaway at his site in which he's teamed up with Land Cameras and is giving away a copy of the book AND a complete kit to get you started shooting instant film.
Here's the trailer for Instant Love:
4. Attack of the Redneck Mommy - Tanis Miller is a Mommyblogger who started her website in 2006 after the sudden death of her youngest son. Tanis is zany to say the very least and her blog is a fun read.
5. Daddy Scratches - Oh. My. Gosh. Laugh-out-loud, pee-your-pants funny!
6. Because I Said So - I discovered the stylings of Dawn Meehan when she was selling some slightly used Pokemon cards on eBay. She has written a couple of books and has since divorced her husband and is raising her six kids by herself in sunny Florida (from Chicago).
7. Single Dad Laughing - This is a recent discovery of mine. Dan Pearce writes about his adventures with his son, Noah.
Ohhh, the ANXIETY. I only have three more sites to share. My list contains much more than three. Crap, which will make the cut?
8. Pinterest - Ok, Pinterest has to make the cut considering how I'm so hopelessly in love with it right now. You can find me here on Pinterest. If you'd like an invite to sign up, just let me know. Happy to send one.
9. Twitter - I'm fairly new to Twitter too, but I'm loving it!
10. I Google stuff about four billion times a day, so I suppose that will have to be my last one :(
What are your favorite websites? I'd love to hear about 'em.
Angela
The Pioneer Woman always comes up in posts as a great site. I have only been to it a few times.
ReplyDeletePinterest, twitter, yes, you can get addicted to them...
Yep. I can waste a lot of time and get nothing done if I happen upon Pinterest or Twitter.
DeleteGreat list. Of course Google is high on my list. Recently joined Pinterest and lvoe it as a visual collage of bookmarks. I use Facebook personally and for my fan pages, and Twitter and G+ though not as frequently.
ReplyDeleteHi Vikk,
DeleteLoved the blogging sites you posted. Thanks for stopping by.
I read Attack of the Redneck Mommy and Daddy Scratches from time to time, but Dooce has gotten too commercialized for me. Great list!
ReplyDeleteHer writing has not been as great since she separated from her husband, but then again, go figure. Thanks for the visit.
DeleteI'm so confused over Pinterest! I love Twitter, although it's such a huge distraction when I'm trying to get work done! I've seen The Pioneer Woman on quite a few lists, I think I'm going to have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHi Hollie,
DeleteHere's a great video that helped me understand Pinterest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQP2dBMoCQ0
Pioneer Woman is great! Thank you so much for coming by.
I recently joined Pinterest and absolutely love it too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so very, very addicting. Isn't it?
DeletePinterest is so addicting! I try to stay away from it unless I have absolutely nothing to do!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, Denise. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI just started following you on Pinterest. I'm addicted to it too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melissa. Following you back :)
DeleteInteresting list. I've only just joined Twitter, so I'm staying away from Pintrest to attempt to have some time away from the internet. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Ann Kristin. That's the only I joined Twitter. Pinterest wanted a Twitter or Facebook. Figured Facebook would take up more time than Twitter.
DeleteNice list. I actually like certain mommy and daddy blogs too, and I'm not even a mom. LOL I have a lot of friends with kids and a niece though, so I use that as my "excuse." :)
ReplyDelete-Lauren
Hey Lauren, thanks for coming by. And nieces TOTALLY count!
DeleteThese are great! The Pioneer Woman is fabulous in my opinion. I will have to make sure to check out some of the others I have not heard of, Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Shannon. I agree, Ree is fantastic.
DeleteOh I should have included google too! Neither of us has kids yet though friends do (sorry Mom and Dad!) so parenting blogs will have to wait - someday I think they will keep us sane!
ReplyDeleteLOL Mary, thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI've heard a lot about the Pioneer Woman, but I've never visited her website. Thanks for the rec.
ReplyDeleteSure, Deb. Thanks for the visit.
Deletenice list! Glad to see another pinterest lover! Best site ever!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
My pleasure Lauren :)

ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of many of these, but I'm definitely interested in the Laugh Out Loud ones! :P
Thanks for stopping by!

DeleteThanks for sharing. I immediately sent your link to my sister thinking she may laugh some good mommy laughs.
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet of you Amy. Thank you. I hope your sister enjoys them.
DeleteHi Angela, I just followed you on Pinterest : ) I very much enjoy children's author, Gueh Yanting, Claudine's site (Carry Us Off Books) Her writing is amazing. Sounds like a relaxing, informative morning : ) ~ Jess
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Following you too, Jess. Love your Top of the Heap board.
DeleteHaha, I google stuff all the time too. I even use google to do math :P
ReplyDeleteLOL, Google knows EVERYTHING :)
DeleteThat's so cool that you live in WI. I moved to VA about 5 years ago but my parents still live in Waukesha. Sometimes I miss WI, but then I remember that I hate snow and the feeling goes away ;)
ReplyDeletePinterest scares the hell out of me! Do I really need another time suck? No. But would it be fun? Yes!
I completely agree with you on google. I can't believe I missed it on my list! Google has the answers to all the questions, even the ones I didn't know to ask!
LOL, shoveling DOES suck pretty bad. Waukesha isn't too far away, we were practically neighbors! Pinterest is definitely a black hole of time-sucking. But fun :)
DeleteWow, you have a lot of great parenting blogs!
ReplyDeleteI had The Pioneer Woman on mine, but took her out to put in Pinterest, lol. It amazing that she has made such a brand out of just...being herself!
Oh, I know. She has certainly been blessed. Thanks for coming by.
DeleteSounds like you have some really good sites on your list! I am also a pinterest freak! Glad that we share that in common.

LOL Joie. Thanks for hopping by :)
DeletePinterest and Twitter are fun and addictive. :)
ReplyDeleteToo much fun.Man, can they suck up a lot of time!
DeleteI used to always be on Twitter until it suddenly stopped working. Don't know what was wrong, but I kept getting "timed out" messages and nothing would load properly. It completely broke the spell and I've barely been on there since. I should probably go back sometime... ;)
ReplyDeleteThat was happening to me for awhile, but I think it was my dang phone. Thanks for stopping by Vicki.
DeleteGreat list there - a nice mix. Pinterest is starting to grow on me. Initially I didn't really get it, but I'm enjoying it more now. Thanks for checking out my list as well.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I had to Google every time I wanted to do something at first :)
DeleteI just joined Pinterest and so far it is REALLY good but I'm still getting used to it a little bit :) Great list though ;)
ReplyDeletexoxo, Mariam
Thanks Mariam. Pinterest DOES take some getting used to, but then watch out, the hours will fly by!
DeleteLove Pioneer Woman. Her life is so ridiculously beautiful I'm not even jealous of it! (I am jealous of her kitchen, though.)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, Ruby.
DeleteI use Google every day also. I can not even begin to count how many times a day I am searching out one thing or another. I have a Pinterest account but am just learning how to use it. Thanks for stopping by my Top Ten.
ReplyDeleteNancy @ The Avid Reader
Right? Need a recipe? Google. Definition of a word? Google. The list goes on and on and on. My pleasure Nancy :)
