Author Spotlight: George R.R. Martin

Lev Grossman (author of The Magicians and The Magician King) has called George R.R. Martin "the American Tolkien." The name has stuck. Again he has a rave review for the fifth in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Dance With Dragons. Grossman says you MUST start at the beginning of the series "or you'll miss out out on the richness of Martin's grand design." The Song of Ice and Fire series is slated to run seven volumes.

A Song of Ice and Fire series has been adapted into HBO's series Game of Thrones. Mr. Martin has been named by Time Magazine as one the 2011 most influential people in the world. PRETTY DARN IMPRESSIVE.
