The 2013 Virginia Literary Festival and James River Writers Conference



Time is running short to register for the 11th Annual James River Writers Conference scheduled for Saturday, October 19 - Sunday, October 20, 2013 in Richmond, Virginia. Pre-conference Master Classes are set for Friday, October 18.


The James River Writers Conference has earned a reputation as being one of the most prestigious gatherings of published authors, literary agents and editors in the country. Registrants will enjoy writing workshops and opportunities to pitch their book ideas, hone their skills and connect with nationally recognized authors and publishers.

Speakers this year include award-winning book designer and author Chip Kidd, National Book Award-winner Kathryn Erskine, best-selling and award-winning author Christopher McDougall, award-winning authors Cece Bell, Lydia Netzer, Megan Mayhew Bergman, and Philippa Ballantine, Book Doctors Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry, founders of Pitchapalooza, and agents April Eberhardt, Deborah Grosvenor, Victoria Skurnick, and Paige Wheeler.

Anchored by the popular James River Writers Conference and the elegant Library of Virginia Literary Awards Celebration, the Virginia Literary Festival celebrates Virginia’s rich literary resources with a series of literary events that include book talks, workshops, celebrations author appearances, poetry readings, and film screenings. These activities take place in venues throughout the historic Richmond region. Many events are free of charge, and include book talks, readings and signings, workshops, panel discussions, a film screening, poetry readings and more. Events take place from October 15 through 20, 2013.
