One of my all-time favorite movies, You've Got Mail. My family has threatened to hide/destroy my copy on more than one occasion. They claim to be sick of seeing it. How could that be? Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) owns a charming indie children's bookstore called The Shop Around the Corner. Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) is the owner of a giant, box bookstore called Fox Books.

84, Charing Cross Road is a film based on the book by Helene Hanff which is is based on her correspondence with a second hand and antiquarian booksellers, Marks and Co., over a period of 20 years. The film stars Anne Bancroft as Hanff and Anthony Hopkins Frank Doel.

  3. I arrived here through a google images search, but I'll definitely stick around! I love most of the movies you mentioned and I didn't remember Stay and Eternal Sunshine as having bookstores in them. Great list!

  4. We all struggle to get work, pay our bills, find love, achieve fulfilment, squeeze into our jeans, and assemble flat-pack furniture. We need help dealing with all that. And help is there, has always been there, in movies.
