A Bookish Quote
Image credit: While looking for the perfect image to go with my bookish quote today, I was delighted to come across these fairy tale bookends from Heather Alstead Design. How great would they look in a kid's room? I absolutely love them!
"You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend." ~ Paul Sweeney

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss." ~ Nora Ephron, I Feel Bad About My Neck: and other thoughts on being a woman

"Books are delightful society. If you go into a room and find it full of books - even without taking them from the shelves they seem to speak to you, to bid you welcome." ~ William Ewart Gladstone

A Bookish Quote
"A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy." ~ Edward P. Morgan

"My test of a good novel is dreading to begin the last chapter." ~ Thomas Helm
This quote sooo reminds me of my Baby Girl. When she was little, watching her Disney movies, I noticed she would keep rewinding them (yes, they were VHS). I HAD to figure out why the heck she was doing that.
It all became very clear after she received Mary Poppins from Grandma and Grandpa that year for her birthday. She watched the whole darn thing all the way through. ONCE. After that, she would rewind it a ways back when she knew the end was coming. I asked her why she was doing that. She replied very matter-of-factly that she wasn't through watching it so she couldn't watch the end yet. It wouldn't have been so bad except for the fact she watched that SAME movie over and over for a lonnnng time. *shudder* I would occasionally have to hide a movie for a bit to retain the smidge of sanity that I started with.
Great. Juuuust a spoon-ful of sugar helps the med-i-cine go down, the med-i-cine go down, the med-i-cine go dowwwn....stuck in my head.

A Bookish Quote
"Nothing can do what a book can do. Lifts you out of your life...to a whole new world, whole new perspective. A book is like a dream you're borrowing from a friend." ~ Dave Kellett
